An article titled “Risks of Money Laundering and Related Issues,” written by Takashi Osawa, was published in the December 2025 issue of Ginko Jitsumu.

In recent years, strengthening risk management systems has become an urgent issue for financial institutions. Until now, financial institutions have been required to address not only financial risks, but also risks in non-financial areas such as governance, compliance, money laundering, and cyberattacks. However, due to various environmental changes, more in-depth initiatives are now required. In this feature, we interviewed Yoshitaka Wada, Regional Financial Monitoring Officer at the Financial Services Agency, about current challenges and initiatives based on this fiscal year’s “Financial Administration Policy.” We also explained the current state of risks faced by regional financial institutions and the management systems required for such risk.
